How to compost our packaging?

DID YOU KNOW? When compostable & biodegradable items are put into the regular bin, they still end up rotting away in landfill. Because they're squashed down by all the other waste, there is no air flow to help it decompose resulting in toxic gas build up. It will still break down but the process takes much longer & isn't any good for the environment.

1. NO NEED TO REMOVE OUR LABELS OR TAPE

We only use compostable ones!

2. CUT THE SATCHEL INTO STRIPS

This helps it break down quicker.

3. PLACE INTO THE COMPOST BIN

Our satchels act as 'brown' material, like leaves, twigs & paper.

4. ADD IN 'GREEN' MATERIAL

For every 2 parts brown material, you need to add 1 part green material, like vegetable scraps, tea leaves & fresh grass.

5. AERATE, AERATE, AERATE!

Rotate the compost every few days so oxygen can flow through & speed up the decomposition.

If you don't already home compost & you have the space to do so, we highly recommend giving it a go.

You can turn all of your veggie scraps, garden waste, cardboard & paper waste into worm food! Composting produces rich, high quality dirt for your garden & veggie patch. It's an amazing fertiliser for your lawn & keeps your soil healthy. PLUS IT'S FREE!

There are plenty of resources online for more information & most local councils hold free day courses through the year, some even throw in a compost bin to help get you started. It's super easy & you will feel great giving your waste new life. Happy composting!!
